Back to School with Denizen!

My daughter just started Pre-K, and I got a small taste of what back to school shopping really is! It was fun at first, but whew, can it be exhausting! Between the meet and greets with teachers, school supplies, clothes, lunch ideas and more, you can easily get caught up in the madness! Fortunately, one thing can still be fun and reasonably priced! From the makers of Levi's, a new line, Denizen, is made for the entire family at a price we can all appreciate!

Denizen is sold exclusively at Target stores and come in several different colors, styles and fits! I had the opportunity to review a pair of Denizen jeans, and was sent the women's totally shaping mid-rise boot cut.

At first glace these look like typical jeans, with a bit of stretch in the material. 

The fit is great-  sits right below the waist, boot cut and a tummy slimming panel! I am extremely happy with the quality, fit and style of these jeans! There are also several different styles to chose from, but I personally love this tummy slimming panel- and it is very forgiving for us mommies!

Like I said, these are a fabulous price too! Every jean from Denizen, whether men's, women's, girls or boys, all have a price point of under $30! That is great, and these are not cheap-o jeans! These are high quality jeans that will last years- hello? these are made from Levi's, and I know I have a pair of Levi's that are still going strong now after at least 10 years!

Get your kiddos "In Tune" with The Tuneables!

If your children are anything like mine, then they love to sing. However, I am what you call absolutely tone deaf! I can't sing, nor do I have the ability to teach my children! :) I just recently discovered a fabulous way for children ages 3-8 to enjoy, learn and interact through a video in doing so! The Tuneables will get your kids "in tune," all while learning the basics of aural perception, kinesthetic response and verbal association!

We were sent The Tunables 2-disk CD set, which includes a video and a music CD. Just from first glance, my daughter was of course thrilled! She immediately wanted to watch this video with all the fun characters!

The DVD is broken down into 4 different parts- music repertoire, rhythm, voice flexibility and tonality. Each section is easy to follow, encourages interaction and completely held my 4 year old's attention! With each "lesson" on this DVD, The Tuneables will teach your child to expand the range of their singing voices, encourage them to hear and sing different tonal patterns, develop rhythmic skills and appreciate the sounds of classical music!

The Tuneables DVD begins as two kids, Annie and Max enter a music shop for their first music lesson. At their arrival, they notice an unusual looking music box, and like most curious kids, they want to take a peek! All of a sudden, the music box pops open, and the music shop is transformed into a magical world of  Tuneville!

The characters are my favorite- each one resembles a different musical instrument, and I think this is not only super cute, but my daughter loved this feature, and this kept her very focused on the video in general. There are several fun characters, such as Clara the clarinet, Pete the trumpet, Sunny the cymbal, Snare the drum, Gloria the piano, and Mo the violin!

It brings together groups of musicians, educators, researchers and creative professionals to support the design and development of the best available products for educating young children in music. Each component is represented by a different character and is great for kids to follow along to. Complete with 18 different songs, your kiddo is sure to have a blast listening to this! As with the DVD, this is CD teaches the basics and fundamentals of music, although you can bet your kids will not even realize it with all the fun they are having!

-My Thoughts-

My daughter loves The Tuneables set! She has watched the DVD several times, and just after one time, she was singing "Do, Mi, Sol..." Love this!

This is a fun, easy and exciting way to incorporate music into your child's life. They will learn the basics of music through activities and participation!

It seems as a single mother of two young kids, I am always feeling physically drained! "Etsy Month" Giveaway #13- Dandelions & Dragonflies (4 winners!)

As most of you know, I couldn't sew on a button if my life depended on it! I am completely fascinated by anything handmade, which is why the next featured shop, Dandelions & Dragonflies is so very special to me! I am amazed by each and every piece in this shop! If you are looking for a one of a kind, gorgeous headband, trust me, you will find it here!

Creator Jessica, has been working with felt since she was a kid! She would made doll clothes, cat toys and more! It was no surprise that when she was out on maternity leave, she began creating these wonderful headbands! Thank goodness she loves doing this, because there is an entire Etsy shop filled up with these felt headbands and let me tell ya, they are even cuter in person!

Even though super "non-crafty" people like me seldom see things like felt, (laugh it up...) I have always wondered what to do with this material. I would never have imagined that they would look so fabulous in the flower form on a headband! After seeing these, however, I couldn't imagine them on anything else! Jessica definitely knows what she is doing, each headband is unique, layered up with so much detail and adds a wonderful pop of color to any girl's outfit!

I was so very excited when Dandelions & Dragonflies was on board to host a giveaway because this is a fairly new shop and I know it will take off soon! I was sent a package for review, and inside I found a gift box with, you guessed it, a super cute felt flower on top! Don't mind the beat up box, my daughter went nuts over the dragonfly!

Inside the box, there were three headbands wrapped in blue tissue paper and sealed with a Dandelions & Dragonflies sticker! This is why I love Etsy! There is so much care that goes into each and every item! Aren't these super cute??! I LOVE these! My daughter was ecstatic!

She immediately wanted to try these on, pink first, of course! This headband is on a thicker band, about 1 1/2 inches wide, super soft and very stretchy- these will fit newborns up to adults! The flower is gorgeous- it has about 8 layers of felt, ribbon on the side and a gem on top! (My daughter says it's a ruby! how fancy!)

The next headband is the Venus felt flower headband in purple! This headband is on super soft and delicate stretchy lace! Each little flower is sewn on to make a heart! About 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches this heart is perfect for dressing up, back to school! (or LSU games! heh!) Super cute and delicate!

Lastly, the yellow headband, which has four flower, and two little leaves tucked underneath! Each little flower is about 1 inch wide and felt is jam-packed together to create a wonderful detail! The same stretchy-lace band is here as the previous one, and I think it is so very feminine!

Both my daughter and I love each of these headbands and she has been wearing them like crazy! We went school shopping the other day, and she was wanting to get outfits to match these gorgeous headbands!

Gorgeous, handmade, one of a kind felt headbands!

Because of the felt, they can have so much detail with layers without being heavy! Genius!
