Yesterday, I called our new JCPenny store, (which, by the way, I am so excited about, since we live so far away from the mall. Whoo-hoo!) and scheduled an appointment to get some spring pictures taken for this morning. Since that, we discovered that we had about 2 billion termites (yes, I am probably exaggerating...) living in one of the flower beds, and they were flying frantically into my kitchen... fun stuff... huh? Well after about an entire bottle of bug killer, and using our trusty shop vac, it seems they were all doomed....
This morning the pest control guy came out, and of course, all the flying termites are already gone. He said that they were just flying out of the ground to go somewhere else. That's it? Geez...He also said that however we sprayed we did an excellent job, because he would have charged me at least $500 to do what my husband did. Real nice.
When the pest guy left, we ran to JCPenny's to get some pictures taken. My daughter was so happy, as she is all about pictures. She wore her new dress and of course had to have a purse! It went great, and I am very happy about the employees there, super nice! On the way out of the portrait area, there was the next appointment waiting, and the cutest little boy. He was eating some gerber graduates snacks, and my daughter, being the little brat that she is, started throwing a huge tantrum..... that seemed as it lasted FOREVER.....
as I was pushing the stroller out into the rest of the store, (of course she won't get IN the stroller.) she was running behind me, screaming, crying, snot running down her face, ya know, what 2 year old's do. I tried to comfort her, and it is a no-go, she just wants to let it out, I guess, I grab the snack I had packed, but she dosen't want that either, she wants that little boy's snack!!
Just then, an employee, an older woman was walking by, and looks at me as to say, "I know how it is, and I don't miss it at all!" I smirk, and laugh, because that is all I can do, really. Laugh it off. Two other women are walking by with their precious and quiet kids, and say to me, "It is not funny, you should be ashamed of yourself!" I tell them that "she is just tired, and ready to go home." I guess this was not enough of an excuse to them, because one of the women actually walked straight up to me, and pushes me, and says that I don't deserve to have children! I am completely shocked at this time, and of course my daughter finally stops screaming, and says "No hitting" to the lady. OMG....
Another employee comes over and is confused, they ask me to " leave the store if I cannot control my child."
I don't think I have ever been so embarrassed in my entire life.
What I would like to know, though, am I in the wrong? Do I need to call Super Nanny or something? I would love to hear your opinions, good or bad, as I am sure I could learn a thing or two about how to control my child! Thanks so much!

Oh my Good Lord. I am so sorry. That is just awful. I would have had such a hard time not getting the police involved if someone put there hands on me. God Bless You. I mean seriously, two year old have tantrums .... my goodness.
I say good for you. I probably woulda smacked that other woman for even touching me, out of instinct! That's ridiculous!
On a side note, maybe you should write a letter to jcpenny about how embarassed you were asked to leave the store after being pushed by another customer and how insulted you were asked to leave when she touched u! lol (maybe free photos?)
I also have a two yr old daughter and she has has temper tantrums many times in the store. When this happens I usually think to myself that I've been in the store too long or she's tired. But its just a 2yr old being their age! And usually other people are annoyed but they understand because they have been through it themselves!! You are NOT in the wrong whatsoever. I'd contact the District Manager and let him/her know what just took place in the new store.
I am very experienced with this age. She is normal. Very normal. If you want my two cents:
Next time as she is screaming, get down to her level, and help her understand this awesome emotion that has just consumed her. Thank her for being a good girl for the pictures but now you have to leave. She won't get in the stroller? Pick her up under one arm (I do this with my three year old), go straight to the car. Don't even acknowledge passer-by's. My DD likes to do this in Target and often has sit down protests. She's not a brat, but a typical toddler trying to make sense of the world in a way we as adults have a hard time understanding.
Oh,Jenny! You didn't do anything wrong! I probably would have lost it on that lady, that was totaly uncalled for!! My 2 yr old has a fit EVERY time we go to Wal-Mart cause she hates riding in the buggy and wants to walk, but that isn't happening.
MAJOR ((HUGS))to you, MAMA!
Thanks everyone for your thoughtful words! I feel much better now, I was really upset and feeling like a horrible mom. Good to know that I don't have to contact Super Nanny! haha!
By the way, my daughter has NEVER thrown a fit this bad, especially not in public!
Geez... I think that if I wasen't so embarrassed from how loud my daughter was, I probably would have hit the woman back! I am glad that I didn't though, I am thinking that she'll probably smart off to the wrong person one day.
Our Mammaw use to walk away from my daughter and tell her that she cannot stay near her when she is crying. She would also talk softly so she would have to stop crying to hear what she was saying. I would register a complaint to Penneys though. Donna H
I have a three year old son who is so sweet and good, until he is tired or get upset. We were at walmart and he is screaming and hitting me. We leave he is asleep before we get home. Your daughter is normal and i am so sorry you had to go through that.
